This is an invitation..
..to make your own city.
Where did this come from?
In 2025, Solidaria Studio visited primary and secondary schools in the Perth suburbs of Mount Lawley and Coolbinia to ask young people what they think and feel about their neighbourhoods, how they experience moving around the city, and to talk with them about how things are for people their age in other parts of the world. These visits were part of research and community engagement commissioned by the WA Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure. The schools and students, along with a high school-aged young consultant team, generously participated in a survey and a series of creative workshops, sharing their ideas for the future of local mobility.
Together, we established what planners and decision-makers in charge of the city's future will have to work on to meet the needs of their real clients - the kids of today. Participants generated materials to share their findings and messages with other young people and adults. From their creative responses comes this unique publication, designed to spark conversations about everyone’s part in creating better places with safe, healthy transport choices for people throughout their lives.
